Your mom may not be there to slap a stack of piping hot waffles in front of you every morning, but that’s no excuse for brushing off the goodness that is breakfast. Getting fuel into your body in the morning sets the tone for your metabolism for the rest of the day, and can have a drastic effect on your energy and concentration. Even if you’re adjusting to an earlier working-life schedule and just can’t imagine doing any breakfast prep work in the day’s earliest hours, there are easy and foolproof ways to make sure the most important meal …

Dining Hall DIY: Custom Cobb Salad

Posted on Monday, February 27th, 2012 | 1 Comment »

cobb salad

Whoever came up with the bacon, lettuce, tomato combo was a genius. Crunchy, salty bacon just yearns for a tangy sweet juicy burst of ripe tomato…the two dancing their sensuous tango atop a bed of crispy fresh lettuce.
The Cobb Salad takes this flawless trio to yet another level, adding more colorful players to jazz up the stage.
According to Wikipedia: “The Cobb Salad is a main-dish garden salad made from chopped salad greens (head lettuce, watercress, chicory, and romaine), tomato, crisp bacon, boiled or roasted chicken breast, hard-boiled egg, avocado…, chives, red-wine vinaigrette and Roquefort cheese. The

BakedOatmeal

The world is split right down the middle. No, not literally. Figuratively. Forget good and evil. The true divide boils down to one, important question: are you a morning person? You know what I’m talking about. Are you a night owl, or do you pop out of bed before the sun, leading the birds into a song like a conductor? Do you view ‘having a lie-in,’ as my lovely British friends call it, as a luxury to be savored on the weekends? Or do you turn up your nose at the thought of sleeping until 10, shocked that anyone would …

DSCN2575

In today’s busy world who has time to eat and drink? Even socially, how am I supposed to efficiently share all my fascinating opinions with a constant mouthful of whatever the kids are drinking these days? If you find that you only have time for two of the following—eating, drinking and texting—these tips can help improve your quality of life. Food and alcohol can be blended together as one for both dinner and dessert. Breakfast and lunch, you’re on your …

Eggs

I have never been a big breakfast eater. The idea of consuming anything before noon generally repulses me so I stick to a coffee during the school year to keep me going until lunch. But during a summer internship in New York after my sophomore year, my morning Starbucks run no longer sufficed. By 10 am, after an hour sitting at my desk, I was starving and counting the minutes until my lunch break. Instead of diligently updating the company’s databases, I drifted into daydreams about bagels and grilled cheese sandwiches. I soon learned that a good breakfast was …
