A little over a year ago (October 15, 2009, to be precise), we got the thrilling news that this little BGSK project would be coming to a bookstore near you. We thanked our editor, Katie, with these cookies. We actually believe that it was the presence of our famous chocolate chips cookies in our meeting with members of the Harper Collins’ publishing team that got us our deal in the first place.
Our baby, titled In The Small Kitchen: 100 Recipes From Our Year of Cooking in the Real World, will be published by William Morrow, a division of Harper Collins Publishers, in May 2011.
In The Small Kitchen is a quirky cross between a food memoir and a beautiful cookbook with delicious recipes and colorful pictures. What’s within its pages (all 300 of them!) chronicles our sophomore year in the “real world,” featuring the recipes and tales behind themed cocktail parties, at-home diner dates, lonely lunches, and all manner of kitchen disasters. There will be over a hundred perfectly tested recipes, including fifty new recipes that have never been featured online, plus a foreword by Ina Garten, author of The Barefoot Contessa cookbooks and television series, and one of our cooking mentors.
As the publication date draws nearer, we’ll be sharing some fun tidbits from the book-writing process, as well as a sneak peek of some of our favorite recipes and anecdotes. We cannot wait to share the finished product with you, and we hope that when the time comes, you’ll join us in celebrating it, both online and off.
More importantly, we have to thank you for all your support. It’s because of you that the idea for this book has become a reality, and for that we owe you all the chocolate chip cookies in the world.
